Somehow back in 1980s in the heady days of Commodore 64 video game piracy we got a hold of the 1984 Barbie video game from Epyx. I was dazzled by the amazingly clear speech synthesis but truth be told, I also loved having dress-up game for girls of my own. The game play began with a frantic phone call from Barbie’s (then) boyfriend Ken inviting her on one of several fantasy dates in an hour! It was the player’s job to drive around Barbie’s neighborhood (or really large closet?) and pick out what they thought was the super perfect outfit for the date. I am not sure what algorithm the game used to determine whether you picked the right outfit, but more often than not, an hour would pass and Ken would call at the last minute with a change of plans. This is a song commemorating this madness of this game which is at the same time one of the best and worst available for the Commodore 64… All samples painstakingly captured by hand… stats
