Cut Copy did very well this year indeed. He’s even nominated for a bleedin GRAMMY, fair play. His album ‘Zonoscope’ is responsible for all the hype. Its closing track is what we’re focussing on today as its been remixed by the prolific and adored Andrew Weatherall. This remix has a really unsettling pace, in the best possible way, its skittering nature pushes you out of your usual ‘step step elbow thrust’ dance move and makes you actually consider what your doing. It puts a brain into any dancefloor robot. Lush and big would be two words I’d use to describe this remix if I was a bit lacking in adjetives. Fortunately I have the thesaurus open here in front of me. This track has a really subtle force and is so well layered that no one part dominates. Instead the drops are subtle and the tempo consistent, even in the ‘calm’ parts, and the vocals remain whispers. This is ornate, verdurous and voluminous (see, told ya) tags: Disco stats
