Sebcat from the global underground collectives Rebel Up! & Brussels Up! drops his magical 8-ball mix here.
This Indonesian mixtape was already on my to do list for a long time and is an ode to the diverse folkloric and westernized styles from these special islands, inspired by priceless releases on the Sublime Frequencies label, the ever excellent Madrotter blog and other obscure sources. Indonesiadelica kicks off with folk(loric) spheres and continues into the 50's when the first Indonesian rock and pop music started to flourish during the country's fresh independance. From here it goes into the 60's and 70's where things get quite psychedelic and experimental up to the 80's and beyond where synthesizers create freaky folkpop of the future. Take yourself on a 80 minute musical trip through Java - Sumatra - Bali, with tunes sung in Bahasa and some lost Dutch words. Menikmati!
