Hungary’s been producing some tasty house music talents in recent years – from Workidz to Belocca & Soneeq, Tommyboy to AMB – and has very healthy breaks and drum ‘n’ bass scenes in particular. But trance is not a genre that receives much attention within the country itself – and so it’s perhaps surprising to find these two burgeoning Hungarian talents carving their way through the record boxes and labels of the likes of Armin van Buuren (featuring heavily on Armada this year), Tiësto and Above & Beyond. Shane was originally a boyband sensation in Hungary in the ‘90s, all the while dabbling in the murky world of techno behind his fans’ backs, and began trading under the name Shane 54 in the early ‘00s, pursuing his love for trance. On meeting fellow trance producer Myon, he claims he met his perfect other half in terms of production, and now with their dynamic live shows and some stunning productions behind them, it looks like their partnership is going to take both of them to new heights. Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Myon: It’s a little bit of everything… What’s your personal favourite track on it? Myon: I know it’s overplayed, but I’m still in love with Andain’s Beautiful Things. When we just played around by putting the acapella on top of our Gabriel Lukosz dub, we knew it had to be in the mix. Shane: I love the beginning, and the first track(s). The intro was originally made by Gabriel & Dresden for their gigs in the As The Rush Comes-era. Jes makes this introduction on top of her own whispering voice, then Andy Moor’s So Much More dub kicks in, which turns out to be ATRC on steroids – we’ll surely use it for live gigs. What’s the special ingredient in this mix? Shane: We have this way of mixing things up. The right acapella could breathe such freshness into a song, that we always look for that rush of “knowing the unknown”-feeling, where you do know both songs of a mash-up, but still it feels completely new. Myon: We got a big archive of acapellas, remix packages, and tracks we edit the hell out of. Besides out remix catalogue provides a constantly growing source for spicing up our DJ sets. We sometimes do make tracks for our own use. What’s the best gig you’ve played recently? Shane: Our first international gig just a few days ago: Transition in Leeds, with Andy Moor, The Thrillseekers, Oliver Smith, and Darren Tate. There were people coming from Poland and Ireland just to see us, which was really nice. Oh, and Myon was recognized in the club’s toilet before we went on… :) Myon: But the one we’re looking forward the most is playing on Armin’s ASOT 400 party in Wuppertal, Germany on 16th of April. That truly will be a very special event for us, since we got loads of votes from the listeners of the show, that’s how we ended up in playing there. We have to thank everyone who voted for us… What have you got coming up? Shane: We have about 9 tracks lined up for release, remixes and original tracks, mostly coming out on Anjunabeats or Armada. Recently finished Just Listen" for Oceanlab’s Sirens Of The Sea remix album, which is filled with producers like Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery or Lange, so we’re honoured to be part of such a quality release. Myon: At this very moment we’re in the UK working with Andy Moor on a new track called Warm Inside, which is almost finished now, and sounds really promising. It will come out on Andy’s AVA Recordings soon. And finally, do you have a special message for our readers? We can only hope this mix will be really enjoyable for everyone, if you like it, just give us a shout on Facebook or Myspace… :) www.myspace.com/myonandshane54 Tracklisting:
