We at Timetheory were chomping at the bit for the new Textbeak release when we were told one was coming our way, and “Lovecraft” did not disappoint! Textbeak, one of the members of Bath (from [tmth006]) has made a surprisingly strong showing in the netlabel world over the last several months, and we’re delighted to add another chapter to that ongoing development. One way of describing the tracks on “Lovecraft” might be to imagine a patchwork quilt made of various types of alien and terrestrial metallic foil, with ornamentation skillfully welded onto the framework of the songs. The tracks are listenable, danceable, mixable and very enjoyable. The production is clean and crisp and sounds quite about like the album artwork looks. There are changes and transitions that are never entirely predictable. It’s possible to gain a different impression upon each repeated listening. stats
